EVs and EVs-based Therapeutics Online Conference organized by K-DOC and sponsored by ShiftBio was held on January 20, 2022.
Many academics and companies working on EVs and EV-based therapies showed great interest in this insightful online conference attended by more than 250 people in total. Our co-founder Prof. In-San Kim hosted the event and gave a general speech on EVs at the beginning that had a great impact even for the people in the audience who had never heard of the subject before.
Our first speaker Kenneth W. Witwer is the Executive Chair of Science and Meetings of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) and is the co-corresponding author of MISEV 2018, which is still used as a standard resource for EV studies in this field. Through his popular YouTube channel "EVs Club," Prof. Witwer's recognition is well known in EV's society. He provided a fun and interactive conversation about his talk session thanks to the intense interest from the participants. We would like to thank him for his heartfelt contributions to the EV field and for being with us in this event, even between his busy schedules.
Our second speaker Andrew Hill is the former president of ISEV and has more than 200 publications in the field with an h-index of 81. He attended the conference from Australia and gave an unforgettable speech on "Extracellular vesicles and diseases of the aging brain." We would like to thank him for sharing his valuable work from the past to the present and being with us at this event.
Followingly, Joy Wolfram, the former Nanomedicine and Extracellular Vesicles Laboratory director at Mayo Clinic and currently residing in the University of Queensland, Australia, had an exciting talk on “Therapeutic and diagnostic extracellular vesicles for inflammatory diseases and cancer”. Besides her speech, it was delightful to see the active participation of Prof. Wolfram in other sessions.
Lastly, Matthew JA Wood, perhaps one of the leading names in EV therapies worldwide and the founding partner of Evox Therapeutics, also joined us as a lecturer at the conference. His speech aroused great interest among the audience and at the end of his speech they showered him with lots of questions. Also, it was worth seeing his debate-like talk with the conference host InSan Kim at the Q&A session.
ShiftBio will continue to bring together the EV network by organizing and participating in such international events on EVs therapeutics. Do not forget to follow our social media accounts to be informed on time.
